IB Art Field Trip

The IB Art Juniors and Seniors took a trip to visit Austin's top museums. They started the day at The Contemporary Austin: Jones Center and had a tour guided by Emily Cayton. On display was an exhibition by Wangechi Mutu and John Boch. Next was a visit to the Blanton to see the permanent collection. We also viewed Ai Weiwei's Forever Bicycles at Waller Creek Boathouse. Next stop was Laguna Gloria, The Contemporary Austin's sculpture park. On display was The Day to Day Accumulation of Hope, Failure, and Ecstasy by Ryan Gander, Water Woman by Wangechi Mutu, Iron Tree Trunk by Ai Weiwei, and To See if Time was There by Anya Gallacio.

The IB Juniors searched for a piece for their IB Comparative Study. This is an assignment where students choose three pieces, one of which must be viewed in person, and use their artistic skills to compare and contrast the pieces as well as analyze and take inspiration for their own exhibition. The IB Seniors were there to help guide the Juniors and give suggestions from their own experience.
