The 2017-2018 School Year is underway

August 17, 2017

The IB Diploma Programme and IBPrep teachers met on Tuesday, August 15 for a two hour professional development training. In this time, the IB Office and IB faculty worked to establish goals and collaborated across the disciplines. This year, WHSIB will be evaluated by the International Baccalaureate Organization as a requirement of all IB World Schools. This is a perfect time to reflect on our past and build for our future.

WHSIB is working on three major goals for 2017-2018:

1) "Defining Growth." WHSIB believes it has room to grow in the number of students that we serve, the course options that we offer, and in our knowledge and alignment to the IB Mission and philosophy.  In 2017-2018 we will define growth through our improved alignment to the IBO's core values.

2)  "Building and IB Professional Community." As a professional community we desire to collaborate and learn from one another. We are committed to working with our subject area colleagues and strive to build cross-disciplinary connections. In 2017-2018 we will learn to know and understand our colleagues and encourage them to meet both personal and professional goals.

3) "Building an IBPrep Community." Our Diploma Programme students and teachers are connected to one another through the students we teach and the curriculum we deliver. We strive to offer the same educational experience for our students in IBPrep across all subject disciplines. In 2017-2018 we will align our curriculum and assessment model to the DP, deliver the IB philosophy in IBPrep classrooms, and offer community events in which both teachers and students can participate.
