2017 Group 4 Project Overview

February 3, 2017

Fire cupping, green pool water, high altitude training, and the fluid dynamics of swimmers- these were all topics chosen by teams in the 2017 IB Group 4 Project. In this annual project, junior IB Standard Level students consider a broad topic- in this case the Summer Olympics- and select how a specific issue of their choosing has been addressed and improved using the sciences of the IB Group 4 disciplines. The goal of the project is to collaborate with others from varying backgrounds in order to focus on an issue and formulate a solution. Groups of 4-5 students incorporate chemistry, biology, physics and computer science in their analysis, then present their ideas in a 5 minute video showcasing their findings. Collaborating to find the best solutions today make our IB students the innovators of tomorrow.
